Christmas Tree mini {w.i.p}

Amy of Diary of a Quilter posted pictures of adorable Christmas trees on Instagram.  One late night, I decided to hack into my new piles of Cotton and Steel Spring 2014 collection.  As with most of my crazy late night projects, there was not much of a plan.  I knew I wanted low low volume background prints.  I wanted to keep it all of the fabrics Cotton and Steel; however, the adorable dots and the eternally perfect Architextures print from Carolyn Friedlander begged to be added to the mix. (Literally, they jumped out of fabric totes and said “use me”!  Maybe I should reconsider sewing late night when my fabric starts talking to me! :))

Since I started my project, Amy has produced a tutorial.  Hers looks great!  Her trees have stumps!!

Next time, I will wait for the tutorial!  HA!

The plan is to turn this piece into a fun mini quilt… or maybe a pillow!

      Thank you! I wasn’t sure if the stumplessness (is that even a word!?!) made them look like regular triangles but I am embracing the wonky and sewing… HA!
