Christmas Tree Mini Quilt {in progress}

During my podcast with Tsoniki, I mentioned how I want to celebrate the “progress” of a project, not just the finish.  In a past Work in Progress post, I shared a Christmas tree mini quilt I am working on using the new Cotton and Steel fabric lines.  I was inspired by Amy of Diary of a Quilter before she posted her fantastic tutorial so mine resemble her trees but are not exact.  (No stumps for me!?!)

Here is where I am at now:

Since I started with scraps, some of the shapes were predetermined.  The color combination of limey green with pink, navy and green are really fun.  I love how the different fabric lines play so well together.

I am debating hand quilting around some of the trees and then machine quilting the rest.  I posted the question on my Instagram account and was encouraged to see others thought the hand quilting would be fantastic.  Perle cottons have been chosen so I am excited!

I also pieced a back out of pieces from both the new and older Cotton and Steel fabric lines.

I can not wait to see it finished!
