I will admit that I was nervous about our discussion. First, Jacquie has been one of my quilting inspirations since her book, Quilting Modern, came out. Her and Katie’s designs were another push for me to think outside of the pattern based quilt designs. Secondly, Jacquie is a tremendous person. Always up for a big hug, I appreciate how she handles being the Chair of the Modern Quilt Guild as well as being a personal ambassador of modern quilting. Lastly, I wanted to make sure I could show all of Jacquie’s many facets in one conversation. I hope I was successful.
Our conversation covers a range of topics from where she finds inspiration today, the impact of the Gee’s Bend quilters on the modern quilt movement, improv as a design process and making quilts with messages.
