Mandy Leins is a teacher, award-winning long arm quilter, pattern designer and author of Wanderlust Quilts. We initially met at Quilt Con through our mutual friend, Cristy Fincher. It was a brief meeting that encouraged me to check out the quilts she had in the show.
Since Quilt Con, Mandy’s work has been seen in more quilt shows, including her first place win in the Modern category of the National Quilting Association show. Check out her Eggs and Darts quilt below:
When I heard Mandy wrote a book, I was eager to see it. Unlike most project books, Mandy explains more than just her inspiration and project instructions. She shows how she incorporates her love of archeology and the built environment with quilt design and provides tips to create your own projects. Here are three of the projects:[threecol_one][/threecol_one] [threecol_one][/threecol_one] [threecol_one_last][/threecol_one_last] During our conversation, we talk about the idea of craft versus art, her theory about “quilt police” and how quilts can help us move through difficult times and tell our story.
