When I ask artists about finding their creative voice, the reoccurring theme is how their past experiences (sometimes seemingly disparate) come together and shape their current work. With a degree in urban planning and work with Peter Calthorpe, Kathryn Clark married a passion for social justice and community development advocacy with the beauty and story telling ability of textiles. In my Designer Profile for Love Patchwork & Quilting, Kathryn talks about how she developed her creative voice, the story behind her foreclosure quilts and the importance of quilting in our collective history.
Issue 51 of Love Patchwork & Quilting is now available in the United States or online. You can also subscribe to the magazine here.
