Bags, bags, bags… and no, I’m not talking about the ones under my eyes since Miss No No is a toddler who defies the human need for sleep! Nope, I am talking about the many, many, many bags we “need” in our lives. An every day bag/purse. A zipper pouch bag for our makeup. A project bag for our
many couple unfinished projects. I “need” bags.
So for February’s Learn More, Sew More skill, I will challenge you to make bags.
Here is our tentative schedule along with giveaways:
Week 1: Bag Making Basics, including a giveaway from Zip It. They have the best quality zippers in a rainbow of colors and lightening fast shipping. (And no, they don’t pay me to say that!!!) I love them and can’t wait to give away a gift certificate. There will also be a giveaway from Erin at Dog Under my Desk. Her patterns are so thorough and complete, anyone can follow along.
Week 2: Zippers, including a giveaway and tutorial from Jennie at Clover and Violet. Jennie integrates quilting patterns/blocks into the cutest bags. Her tutorial is going to break down the “fear” of zippers.
Week 3: Interfacing, including an interview and giveaway from Sara at Sew Sweetness. I can not wait to share my interview with Sara! Her bags look professional and inspire me to use my larger prints. She’s also absolutely adorable. Go check out how cute she is. I’ll wait…. I was right, huh? She’s adorable. 🙂 I will also provide resources about using interfacing in bags. It’s not as scary as it sounds.
Week 4: Piping and Open Welt Pockets, including a tutorial and giveaway from Alicia at Swoon Patterns. I love clean, practical bags and Alicia’s patterns fit the bill. She’s going to show up how to make an open double welt pocket on a bag. I love knowing more techniques. We will also talk about piping.
Are you ready!?!
