katydid dress

When Rachael of imagine gnats told me she was developing a free pattern for Melly Sews 30 Days of Sundresses, I offered to test the pattern for smaller sizes. Have you seen Rachael’s version?

Super cute!

For my version, I wanted to make it reversible with a solid on one side and this adorable horse pattern on the other side. Sewing with knit fabric is a newer skill so I made sure I changed to a new ballpoint needle and put on the latest While She Naps podcast to keep me company.

Here is my sweet Miss No No in her dress. (She has wild woman hair!)

I made a size 4 to give her a bit more room to grow into the dress. She is between a size 2 and 3 now. The entire process from cutting the fabric to finishing the dress took me about 2 hours. I can’t wait to make more of them for the summer! Next I will try using up my voile pieces.

You can find the free pattern here. Thank you for letting me test the pattern, Rachael. 🙂
