During my podcast with Susanne Woods, she talked about the Mighty Lucky Quilting Club. The monthly subscription Club challenges quilters to expand their skill set through specific topics using guided instruction, inspirational pictures and detailed techniques. I will be interviewing each of the teachers so you can learn more about them, their work and the skill they are exploring that month.
For January, Krista Fleckenstein from Spotted Stones is my guest. I have written about her before when I reviewed her book, Beyond Cotton. Krista lives in Anchorage, Alaska with her husband and four children. As the daughter of a quilter, she grew up with piles of fabric and the hum of a sewing machine. Once she had her own children, she started quilting herself. She started her blog in 2010 and her patterns can be found in 101 Patchwork Projects + Quilts, Modern Patchwork Magazine, Modern Blocks, and Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe.
For January’s Mighty Lucky Quilting Club exercise, Krista is teaching “Shapes and Curves using Bias Tape.” For our podcast conversation, we talk about how she has always been artistic growing up, her award winning quilts at Quilt Con 2013 and why she is teaching others about the many uses of bias tape.
Here are the two quilts we discuss during the podcast:[one_half][/one_half][one_half_last][/one_half_last]
I look forward to next month’s Mighty Lucky podcast with Season Evans!
